I absolutely adore my "job." This week, the Resort Collections of 2008 debut, and here is the first of many posts of my fave runway looks.

Beads of Summer

I can see you
Your brown skin shinin in the sun
You got your hair combed back and your sunglasses on, baby
And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the BEADS of summer have gone...
-Ataris
(You know you remember that song...)

It's officially summertime for me, and right here is my pick for the #1 summer trend. If you all can remember back to Stella McCartney's Spring 08 runway show (or my review), you may remember the colorful beaded purses and shoes (which actually fell apart during the show)

Well, the faults have been fixed, and the beaded wooden platforms, one of my fave new shoe styles, and the gorgeous beaded clutches, have finally debuted in high end stores (and on celebs)

Stella McCartney Beaded Clutch, $1,495

Beaded Wedge Slide, $1,165

Dries Van Noten also showed beaded footwear, as well as chunky beaded necklaces.

Dries Van Noten Beaded Sandals, $945

Those beads have been on my brain ever since, and I recently indulged in a colorful, Native American style, vintage, beaded belt, and have decided to hunt down some beaded beauties for all y'all faithful readers.

Shop Intuition beaded clutch, $28

Jeffrey Campbell Beaded Thong, $88
Photobucket
Sigerson Morrison Sandals, $549
I LOVE these Sigerson Morrison wedges, though they're really pricey. They remind me of those fab balenciaga heels
Photobucket
Balenciaga Moroccan Shoe, £1,025.00

**Beaded Extras**
Photobucket
Seed Bead Headwrap, $16
Photobucket
Forever 21 Aileen Braided Bangle, $6.80
Photobucket
Seed Beed Bracelet, $24
Photobucket
Topshop Glass Multi Bead rope, £12.00

Enjoy!

The Best of the Costume Institute Gala 2008

The theme was Superheroes, complete with statues of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman by award winning production designer Nathan Crowley. The elite group of the hottest stars, models, designers, and socialites all gathered in the gorgeous halls of the Metropolitan Museum of Art last night at the Costume Institute Gala, considered the Oscars of the fashion industry. The fashion industry has recently become obsessed with superheroes, like in the Harper's Bazaar spread with Lindsay Lohan.

So, albeit slightly lower in taste than I would have expected for the most glamorous night of the year, a superheroes theme fit the bill.
I've edited the 165 pictures of the Gala from style.com to those I actually liked, but truthfully there weren't a whole lot of outfits that I would choose! Taste was often questionable in the dress choices of the young and the fabulous pictured below...let me know what you think!

**THE GOOD**
Photobucket
Reminiscent of Catwoman, model Caroline Trentini looked stunning in Miu Miu heels and Van Cleep & Arpels jewelry.
Photobucket
Socialite (and Anna Wintour's daughter) Bee Shaffer looked radiant in an intense Nina Ricci gown
Photobucket
Christina Ricci, in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci Haute Couture and Bulgari jewels. Very Wonder Woman-esque
Photobucket
Victoria's secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore a daring, feathered Burberry gown
Photobucket
Scarlett Johansson looked radiant in Dolce & Gabbana and Fred Leighton jewels, with Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce
Photobucket
Thandie Newton, in Chanel
Photobucket
Kate Moss and Stella McCartney, both in the designer's designs
Photobucket
A colorful Kate Bosworth, in vintage Chanel Haute Couture
Photobucket
Socialite and Heiress Lauren Santo Domingo in Nina Ricci, with Ricci designer Olivier Theyskens
Photobucket
Model Jourdan Dunn, in Peter Som, with the designer
Photobucket
model Jessica Stam, in Proenza Schouler
Photobucket
The face of Balenciaga, Jennifer Connelly, in, what else? Balenciaga.
Photobucket
actress Camilla Belle, in Armani Privé and Fred Leighton jewels
Photobucket
Diane Kruger, in Alberta Ferretti, with Joshua Jackson
Photobucket
Claudia Schiffer, in Fred Leighton Jewels, with Valentino Garavani
Photobucket
French socialite Coco Brandolini, in Alberta Ferretti, with the designers
Photobucket
John Demsey and model Hilary Rhoda
Photobucket
Guinevere Van Seenus, Cecilia Dean, Kate Mulleavy, and Laura Mulleavy, all in Rodarte.
Photobucket
model Natasha Vojnovic, in Alexander Wang, with the designer and Philip Crangi
Photobucket
It's a little bit matronly for young actress Claire Danes, but anything by Narciso Rodriguez (pictured) is fine with me!

**THE AVERAGE**
Photobucket
Marcus Wainwright, Sasha Pivovarova, and David Neville. Boring and unflattering, I expected better from you, Sasha!
Photobucket
Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, and Roberta Armani, all in Giorgio Armani. A bit of an off choice for Katie
Photobucket
Tom Brady, in custom Tom Ford, with Gisele Bündchen, in Atelier Versace. In my opinion, Gisele's taste is so so.
Photobucket
Thakoon Panichgul with Raquel Zimmermann, in a dress by the designer. I'm still on the fence about this one...
Photobucket
Sofia Coppola, in Marc Jacobs and Van Cleef & Arpels jewels, with Marc Jacobs. I like the dress, it's just not that flattering.
Photobucket
Nicolas Ghesquière and Charlotte Gainsbourg, in Balenciaga. I LOVE Balenciaga, but I'm not so sure about this dress.
Photobucket
Naomi Watts, in Fred Leighton jewels. Channeling marilyn Monroe/Mermaid?
Photobucket
Mario Testino with Lily Donaldson, both in Burberry. #1, there's a reason she never smiles... #2 This dress blends into her skin.

**THE UGLY**
Photobucket
Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen, both in Calvin Klein Collection. That dress is awful!
Photobucket
Natasha Poly, in Phi, with designer Andreas Melbostad. She's stick skinny, yet she chose a dress that doesn't flatter her!
Photobucket
Mischa Barton, in Missoni.
Photobucket
Michelle Trachtenberg. Oh come on, Michelle, your first Gala and you wear THIS?

ENJOY!
